The Coast Guard Art Program (COGAP) is preparing to unveil its 2025 art collection at the esteemed Salmagundi Club in New York City. This exhibition, running from July 1 to July 29, 2025, provides a unique opportunity for the public to experience the art without any admission fee. Visitors are welcome to explore the collection from Tuesday to Friday between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., and on weekends from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Situated at 47 Fifth Avenue, the Salmagundi Club will feature 34 new artworks by 24 talented artists, each capturing the diverse missions of the Coast Guard. These pieces vividly portray operations such as search and rescue, inspections, patrols, and interdictions. Additionally, 24 artworks from previous collections will be on display, offering a comprehensive perspective on the Coast Guard's activities.
After its display at the Salmagundi Club, the collection will transition to the Federal Hall National Memorial in lower Manhattan. This next exhibition will begin on August 4, aligning with the Coast Guard's birthday, and will be available for viewing over the following two months. Located at 26 Wall Street, Federal Hall will also offer free access to all visitors.
COGAP's mission is to leverage fine art as a tool to educate the public about the Coast Guard's crucial role in national security. The artwork emphasizes the service's wide array of responsibilities, including defense readiness, coastal security, and the interdiction of illegal activities. Through these powerful visuals, the program narrates the Coast Guard’s military, humanitarian, and law enforcement duties.
Celebrating its 44th anniversary this year, the Coast Guard Art Program has accumulated a collection of over 2,300 pieces. These artworks are displayed in various prestigious venues, including museums across the nation, the offices of government officials, and Coast Guard bases. The program's artists, a dedicated group of professionals, generously donate their works, enriching the tapestry of the Coast Guard's storied history.
