Temple Square Enhancements: Art Glass and Upcoming Events

Recently, Temple Square has been enhanced with the installation of exquisite new art glass in the temple entrance buildings. These artistic creations beautifully illustrate sacred moments from the life, ministry, and teachings of Jesus Christ. Among the pieces is a depiction of Christ ministering to children, inspired by the account in 3 Nephi 17, and another illustrating the New Testament scene of the resurrected Savior appearing to Mary Magdalene.

The installation process was a meticulous endeavor, requiring careful planning and coordination. Over several days, crews diligently positioned the panels to ensure the fragile pieces were installed with precision and safety. This artwork enriches Temple Square with a profound visual element, encouraging visitors to contemplate the teachings and ministry of Jesus Christ.

Completion of Scaffolding and Crane Removal

The scaffolding that once surrounded the Salt Lake Temple has been completely removed, revealing the historic structure's facade to the public once more. This process, which spanned several weeks, marks a significant milestone in the renovation. Additionally, the south tower crane, which had been a fixture between the historic temple and the Visitors’ Center for the past 5.5 years, has been dismantled.

Throughout the construction, cranes played a crucial role in moving large stones, structural components, and mechanical systems. These cranes were capable of lifting approximately 35,000 pounds near the base and about 10,000 pounds at the jib's end. The removal of a crane is a complex task, requiring the use of two additional cranes - one to assemble a tall crane, which then dismantles the tower crane.

New Easter Displays at Temple Square

Temple Square now features new Easter displays that celebrate the life and resurrection of Jesus Christ. These displays offer visitors an opportunity to reflect on the hope and joy of Easter, providing a serene environment to learn more about the Savior.
