Where Distance Meets Connection: Annette Palmer's Art Exhibition

Prepare to immerse yourself in a unique artistic experience as "Where Distance Meets Connection," a compelling pop-up exhibition, makes its debut at the TWAC Gallery. This three-day event, running from October 28 to October 30, 2025, will feature the semi-abstract paintings of Annette Palmer, a celebrated local artist. Visitors are invited to explore the exhibition from Tuesday to Thursday, between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM, where they can engage with Palmer and her evocative collection that bridges the landscapes of Scotland and Texas.

Annette Palmer's artwork is a profound exploration of the interplay between memory, emotion, and geography. Her atmospheric compositions capture the essence of both distance and connection. "My paintings are a manifestation of memories," Palmer shares. "They explore the energy of connections across expansive, dreamlike spaces, imagining another soul in the distance reflecting my thoughts. Although these landscapes are largely uninhabited, save for the occasional bird, they resonate with a sense of home. Relationships and love are central themes, with flight symbolizing the journey across the horizon."

Palmer's creative approach blends experimental and traditional techniques, utilizing collage, vintage papers, and reflective elements. "These components symbolize optimism, memories, hope, dreams, and spirits," she explains. "I paint the past, present, and the heart."

With over twenty years in The Woodlands, Palmer has established herself as a prominent artist, showcasing her work both locally and internationally. She maintains a studio and gallery at Winter Street Studios in Houston and has been featured in "50 Artists Houston Vol. 2." Her curatorial expertise extends to exhibitions for various galleries, including TWAC's in-house programs. Additionally, Palmer is a published arts writer and serves as a juror for numerous art competitions.

During the exhibition, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase a selection of paintings, small matted original works, and prints. A portion of the sales will support The Woodlands Arts Council's initiatives.
